The Sunrise Rotary Club District Grant Project is complete and already showing signs of growth! Members of the Sunrise Club worked to create a hydroponic garden for Echoing Hope Ranch in January 2024.
Echoing Hope Ranch is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located near the San Pedro River in Southeastern Arizona. Serving individuals in Cochise and Pima counties, Echoing Hope Ranch exists as a supportive resource for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build new skills, gain independence, and self-advocate within their community.
The intent of the project is to provide a sustainable pathway for autistic adults to learn about gardening, food self-sufficiency, and healthy living. The first picture was taken 2 weeks after the January 20 workday. One month later, Echoing Hope Ranch manager Daniel Wichgers (pictured) is excited about the progress. The Ranch had their first harvest of lettuce and are selling the product at their booth at the Thursday Farmer's Market in Veterans Memorial Park in Sierra Vista, and receiving rave reviews.
Full harvest of all the initial plantings is expected in the next 2-4 weeks. Another great project by Sunrise Rotary Club!
